Minister Erna Solberg : ''Good governance is an important factor for stability and prevention of conflicts''

26.05.2004 - Good governance at local level is one of today’s most important factors to ensure stability and prevent conflicts, said the Norwegian Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Erna Solberg, in her speech at the Plenary Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

Norway will invite all Council of Europe Member states, and particularly representatives from South-Caucasus region and Western Balkan to a conference on strengthening of local democracy, she stressed.

The Council of Europe plays an important role in promoting democracy, human rights and good governance, and in preventing conflict in our part of the world, said Minister Solberg.
