Switzerland and the Council of Europe

Accession
Switzerland became the 17th member State of the Council of Europe on 6 May 1963.

Committee of Ministers
- Micheline CALMY-REY, Head of the Federal Department for Foreign Affairs
- Paul WIDMER, Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe since December 2007.

Parliamentary Assembly
Switzerland is represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by a delegation of 6 representatives and 6 substitutes, including:
- Maximilian REIMANN (ALDE), head of the delegation.
- Liliane MAURY-PASQUIER (SOC), third Vice-Chairperson of the Social, Health and Family Affairs Committee.

Congress of Local and Regional Authorities
Switzerland is represented in the Congress by a delegation of six representatives and six substitutes, including:
- Dario GHISLETTA (SOC), Bellinzona, head of the delegation.

Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Switzerland is € 4 301 761.97 (i.e. 2.0984 %).
