The Slovak Republic and the Council of Europe

Accession
The Slovak Republic became the 31st member State of the Council of Europe on 30 June 1993.

Committee of Ministers
- Miroslav LAJČÁK, Foreign Minister
- Emil KUCHÁR, Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe since June 2007.

Parliamentary Assembly
The Slovak Republic is represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Boris ZALA (SOC), head of the delegation.

Congress of Local and Regional Authorities
The Slovak Republic is represented in Congress by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Jozef PETUSIK (ILGD), Dolny Lopasov, head of the delegation.

Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of the Slovak Republic is € 742 107.24 (i.e. 0.3620 %).

Human Rights
Ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights on 18 March 1992.
- Judge to the European Court of Human Rights: Ján ŠIKUTA.
- Applications allocated to a decision body (*) in 2008 : 488
- Judgments in 2008: 15 of which 12 violations
