Moldova became the 36th member State of the Council of Europe on 13 July 1995.

Parliamentary Assembly
Moldova is represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Maria POSTOICO (UEL), head of the delegation and second Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Rules of procedure, Immunities and Intitutional Affairs.
Congress of Local and Regional Authorities
Moldova is represented in the Congress by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Grigore POLICINSCHI (NR), Region of Dubasari, head of the delegation.
Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Moldova is € 246 002.40 (i.e 0.1200 %).
Human Rights
Ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights on 12 September 1997.
- Judge to the European Court of Human Rights: Mihail POALELUNGI.
- Applications allocated to a decision body (*) in 2008 : 1147
- Judgments in 2008: 33 of which 28 violations and 1 non-violation
