Lithuania became the 28th member State of the Council of Europe on 14 May 1993.

Parliamentary Assembly
Lithuania is represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by a delegation of 4 representatives and 4 substitutes, including:
- Emanuelis ZINGERIS (EPP/CD), head of the delegation.
- Egidijus VAREIKIS (EPP/CD), thid Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs.
Congress of Local and Regional Authorities
Lithuania is represented in the Congress by a delegation of 4 representatives and 4 substitutes, including:
- Gintautas GEGUZINSKAS (EPP/CD), Pasvalys District, head of the delegation.
Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Lithuania is € 423 534.13 (i.e. 0.2066 %).
Human Rights
Ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights on 20 June 1995.
- Judge at the European Human Rights Court: Danutė JOČIENĖ.
- Applications allocated to a decision body (*) in 2008 : 255
- Judgments in 2008: 13 of which 11 violations and 2 non-violations
