Iceland and the Council of Europe Accession Iceland became the 12nd member State of the Council of Europe on 7 March 1950.

Parliamentary Assembly

- Steingrímur SIGFÚSSON (UEL), Chairperson of the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men.

Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Iceland is € 246 002.40 (i.e. 0.1200 %).
