Fighting racism ahead of EURO 2008
6-10 April, Europa-Park (Germany) - The Council of Europe and Europa-Park are co-organising a ''fan camp'' on preventing racism among football fans. Part of the ''All Different-All Equal'' youth campaign, the seminar will gather youth representatives from 30 European countries at the theme park in Rust, Germany. 2008 René Cassin European Human Rights Competition
7-8 April, Strasbourg - Students representing universities in six countries will compete against each other on the topic of new technologies in secondary schools during the 22nd René Cassin Competition, to be held at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. 2008 exchange of views on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue
8 April, Strasbourg – The first ''Council of Europe exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue'' will bring together around a hundred participants from across Europe to discuss ''Teaching religious and convictional facts – A tool for acquiring knowledge about religions and beliefs in education; a contribution to education for democratic citizenship, human rights and intercultural dialogue.'' Thomas Hammarberg to visit Slovakia
8-10 April, Bratislava - The Commissioner for Human Rights will discuss the human rights situation in Slovakia with authorities and NGOs during a during a three-day contact visit starting on Tuesday 8 April . PACE pre-election visit to Serbia
8-10 April, Belgrade - A PACE delegation will make a pre-election visit to Serbia ahead of the parliamentary elections of 11 May. In Belgrade, the delegation will meet members of political parties not represented in parliament, the Supreme Court President, the Secretary of the Electoral Commission and representatives of civil society and the media. Talks with representatives of the political parties standing for election will be held during the subsequent PACE observation mission from 8 to 12 May. Conference on education and training of Roma children and youth
8-9 April, Bratislava – Measures taken by Council of Europe member states to improve the education of Roma children in Europe will be the focus of an event organised as part of the Slovak Chairmanship of the Council of Europe. Participants, including Commissioner Hammarberg, will discuss ways of eliminating educational differences that exist between Roma and non-Roma populations. Launch of a new TV database
9 April, Cannes (France) – The Council of Europe's Audiovisual Observatory and the European Commission will launch a new TV database - set up to provide basic data on all television channels accessible in the European Union and the two candidate countries, Croatia and Turkey – on Wednesday.
